Opening of the New Autumn Exhibition Season at the Rothko Centre

On Friday, September 22, at 16:00 Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art Centre will launch its new autumn exhibition season with a motto – TIME AND DIVERSITY IN TIME.

For the fifth time running the autumnal Rothko season comes as a harvest festival, showcasing the work of local and international artists brought together at the Rothko Centre. This time, the unifying idea of the new season is time and diversity in time.

We see intricate detail and mythological imagery of the single time tariff in the works of a distinguished Latvian graphical artist – GUNĀRS KROLLIS,; balance and peace in the compositions of a Belgian photographer – YVES ULLENS, evanescence and change in the solo exhibition of INĀRA PETRUSEVIČA, emotion and force in the watercolour walls of BAIBA PRIEDĪTE, diversity and variety in the exhibition “Infinity of Art – the Polish Perspective” and a different view of today in the body of work by the participants of the international painting symposium “Mark Rothko 2017”.

Six new art projects with the worldviews of 20 artists of different generations will be available to the public until 5 November 2017.

During the opening event of the new exhibition season, from 16:00 until 17:00, the new exhibitions will be open to audiences free of charge. At other times – at special discount prices in honour of the upcoming birthday of Mark Rothko, traditionally celebrated on 25 September.
