Easter in Daugavpils Culture news
The Easter atmosphere has entered the city of Daugavpils not only with decorations, but also with a number of activities in which everyone can participate.
Until April 12, the photo exhibition “Easter Egg Portraits” made by the creative collectives of the Unity House can be seen in the shop windows of the House of Traditions in the Unity House. There are Easter eggs painted in aspen and onion peels, blueberries and poplar buds, speckled with folk patterns and grain prints, as well as one-colour Easter eggs, which can become a source of inspiration for anyone. A special exhibition of illustrations of Easter beliefs has been prepared by the children's dance group “Pienupīte” of the Unity House. Members of “Pienupīte” recommends to observe the weather at Easter, as it can predict the oncoming summer; shake the apple trees thoroughly so that this year there is a good harvest; the dreams of Easter night are not forgotten; during the holidays swing a lot so that in summer the mosquitoes do not bite you and you are not sleepy. The exhibition is open until April 19. But on the Facebook account of the Unity House you can get acquainted with the participants of the installation competition “My Family's Easter Egg” and evaluate their works by clicking “like”, as well as learn the most creative and original Easter recipes in video format offered by Daugavpils cultural institutions.
From April 1 to 12, Daugavpils Polish Culture Centre invites everyone to participate in the Easter egg painting competition “The Most Colourful Easter Egg”. The organizers of the competition offer to decorate and take a picture of the Easter egg. The works submitted for the competition will be available on Facebook account (Facebook Centrum Kultury Polskiej w Daugavpils). From April 6 to 30, there will also be a virtual exhibition of Easter postcards with late 19th century and 20th century Easter greeting cards.
From April 1, the Belarusian Cultural Centre organizes the exhibition “Easter Mood” on its website and Facebook account.
On Easter, April 4 to 5, music will be played at the Unity Square, but at dusk the Unity House building and the Unity Square will be adorned with special audio-visual Easter decorations.
