Daugavpils invites young accordionists to participate in the contest Culture news
Till 1st October this year the Young Accordionists are invited to submit their applications for the XII International Contest Named after Valerijs Hodukins "Daugavpils 2021" taking place online on 28 – 30 October within the XVII International Accordion Music Festival in Daugavpils (Latvia).
Participants in two age categories are invited to participate in the Contest:
- Young accordion performers participate in the “A” category - students of music schools up to 16 years of age (including) and students of music secondary schools (I - II year).
- Young accordion performers participate in the “B” category – students of music schools aged 17 to 19 (including) and students of music secondary schools (III - IV year).
The Contest will take place in 2 rounds and will be judged by an international jury. Detailed information on the Contest conditions can be found in the REGULATION.
The Contest is organized by Daugavpils City Municipality Department of Culture supported by Daugavpils City Municipality in cooperation with Stanislav Brock Daugavpils Music Secondary School and Latvian Accordionists’ Association.
The International Accordion Music Festival in Daugavpils takes place once every two years. The first international festival took place in the autumn of 1989 and immediately attracted the attention of professional performers and listeners of this unique instrument, so the organization of such festivals became a tradition.
Since 1999, a Contest for young performers in two age categories has been taking place within the Festival. Since 2011, it has been named after the festival's founder, outstanding pedagogue, conductor and arranger Valerijs Hodukins.
