Big carnival procession of school students was held on the second day of Christmas City news
On the 26th of December, the second day of Christmas, a mass carnival procession of Daugavpils schools' students took its placethe first time in Daugavpils. It was attended by more than 1,200 students of secondary schools of Daugavpils. Masks marched through from Vienības square on Rigas street to Daugavpils Ice Hall. Festive mood of the youngsters was created by Santa Claus, fairy-tale characters and a brass band. In the Ice Palace marchers were greeted with hot tea and a show of young skaters, concert. After a festive presentation, all the children were able to go free ice skating. As was claimed by Daugavpils City Council first Vice-chairman VitālijsAzarevičs, this procession was the beginning of a new good Christmas and New Year's tradition in our city and is part of a long tradition continuation in holding International mask festival in Daugavpils.
In the evening, at the central Vienības square big hand-made heart of the city, made of small candles by citizens of Daugavpils, catched the fire. Turning to the citizens, Daugavpils City Council Vice-chairperson LivijaJankovska wished everyone Merry Christmas and a New Year, and also thanked for their active and creative participation in the Christmas and New Year events.
