Ecological problems of Baltic Sea were discussed in Daugavpils City news
On the 23th of October from 9.00 to17.00 inconference hall of Daugavpils City Council a Seminar on Sustainable sludge management and Laboratory techniques organized within the Project for reducing eutrophication of the Baltic Sea today (PRESTO), implemented in the program "The Baltic Sea Region 2007-2013. " Seminar participants were greeted byDaugavpilsCity Council Chairperson Žanna Kulakova.
The mayor emphasized, that ecology has a huge meaning and in order to achieve positive results, we all must work hard. Žanna Kulakova expressed proudness for the active work of “Daugavpils ūdens” company in this sphere. Thanks to implemented enterprise projects in the taps ofDaugavpilsis flowing clean drinking artesian water. This is a huge achievement, recognized and acknowledged by experts
Implemented by "Daugavpilsūdens" projects provide another, an equally important benefit: clean wastewaters, which do not pollute the environment, ourDaugavaRiver, sewage do not fall into theBaltic Sea.
General Consul of Republic Belarus Viktor Geisik spoke to the audience. He noted that the two countries share not only environmental issues, but overall the river Daugava, which flows throughDaugavpils.
ForBelarusit is important to clean a pool of theBaltic Sea. AlthoughBelarus- is not a sea country, yet its inhabitants rest in Jurmala, which has Belarusian health resorts, as well as in Lithuanian Palanga. He wished success and new solutions in the field of ecology.
