A Day of Architecture has started in Daugavpils City news
On the 5th of October is declared as the International Day of the international architecture by the community of architects. This year it takes place under the motto "Architects - Converters city." The event, organized in collaboration with Latvian Association of Architects and the Daugavpils City Council, was held inDaugavpils. The event is hosting an international conference on "Trends in public open space in theBaltic States in the last 20 years." Daugavpils City Council chairperson Žanna Kulakova greeted all the participants.
Ž. Kulakova, "Each of us find it important to live in ordered and comfortable environment. The same can be said of the urban environment - architecture. The work of architects, builders and designers is crucial.
Citizens ofDaugavpilsalso want to improve their city, and that is what we are doing. Therefore, today we will share the experience demonstrate already created things and architectural heritage of city ofDaugavpils.
Daugavpilshas many things to be proud of, but we also realize that the experience of other cities is important for us. I hope that all the things seen and known today will be beneficial to your future work. "
Žanna Kulakova wished successful work and positive impressions about Daugavpils to the participants of conference.
After a speech by City Council chairpersonDaugavpilswas presented by the chief architect of the city - Inga Ancāne. A video presentation dedicated to the history of the city, visual image and achievements in architecture was prepared for the guests.
The number of registered participants was over 120 people. Representatives of architects’ communities fromLithuania,EstoniaandPolandtake part in the Days of Architecture; they shared experience in matters of urban open spaces.
During the Days of Architects the presentations of best Diploma works inBaltic Statesamong the higher schools last year. Works, presented by students, will be judged by an international jury. The author of the best works in Baltics will get a prize. This is the first time when such event is organized. During the Days of Architecture in the building of the Daugavpils City Council an exhibition of Architecture in Latvia 2011 will be opened. Participants of the event will be introduced toDaugavpilson the organized excursion and visit the largest currently building project - reconstruction of theDaugavpilsfortress.
Participants of the Days of Architecture are practicing architects and architects of governments, workers of building committees of local governments as well as all other interested persons.
