We are pleased to invite you to the closing conference of the project “Challenges of regional Centres: Depopulation Control, Development - best Practices” (DeCoDe

On November 14th-15th Daugavpils City Council as Lead Partner of the project DeCoDe will host an international partners and representatives from eight countries: Latvia, Lithuania, Germany, Romania, Denmark, Spain, England, Portugal. It will be the final meeting of the project. DeCoDe project is implemented within the framework of the 2nd strand "Democratic Engagement and Civic Participation" action 2.2 “Networks of Towns” of the European Union programme "Europe for Citizens". The project aims to create an international, sustainable network of European cities to share their experiences on depopulation processes and their impacts, and to find solutions to reduce depopulation.

The closing conference of the project "Challenges of regional Centres: Depopulation Control, Development  - best Practices" will take place at seminar room of SanMari Hotel, 46 Stacijas Street in Daugavpils on November 15th, 2019. Working languages: English and Latvian (simultaneous translation will be provided). All interested parties are welcome to register for the conference here: https://reg.registration.lv/decode

The program of the event can be found here. The conference will feature thematic panel sessions on the future of Europe, participants will be able to hear the project partners' experience of depopulation as a regional challenge and a project-based research on the topic.

The aim of the Europe for Citizens Programme is to contribute to citizens' understanding of the European Union, its history and diversity and to encourage the democratic participation of citizens at EU level. The Programme objectives are to encourage democratic and civic participation of citizens at EU level, by developing citizens' understanding of the policy making-process, raise awareness of common history and values by bringing European citizens of different nationalities and different languages together and by giving them the opportunity to participate in common activities.

The project is financed under the European Union programme “Europe for Citizens”. Implementation timeline: 01.03.2018.- 01.02.2020.
