STEM and STEAM teachers adopt the Norwegian experience through creative activities and programming

On January 11, 2023, an informative and educational workshop for STEM and STEAM teachers will be held at the Daugavpils Innovation Centre.
Daugavpils City Council in cooperation with Imola municipality in Italy (lead partner) implements the project Art4Rights - When a space becomes a place - Participatory public art “Network for Citizens’ participation in preserving and valorizing EU fundamental rights through participatory public art” within the framework of European Union Programme CERV.
On the first Sunday of December, December 4, the ticket price for individual visitors to the Shmakovka Museum in Daugavpils will be only 2.15 EUR. The Museum offers free audio guides in 6 languages – Latvian, Latgalian, Russian, English, Lithuanian and German, as well as guided tours.
Daugavpils City Municipality in cooperation with Trondheim Science Centre (Vitensenteret) in Norway https://vitensenteret.com/en implemented two cooperation project activities in September.
The implementation of EU financed international project “Art4Rights” has started. One of the main activities of the project is to give a “second life” to a forgotten cultural place in the city of Daugavpils and revive it attracting the attention of the residents by implementing a participatory public art campaign. We invite all those interested - both NGOs and citizens to get involved and send their ideas by October 21, 2022 to the e-mail attistiba@daugavpils.lv - where in Daugavpils and what kind of public art action could be implemented within the project.
The European Researchers` Night is an event initiated by the European Commission, which takes place every year on the last Friday of September, explaining the achievements of science in an engaging way and allowing anyone who is interested to look into the secrets of the work of scientific laboratories.
Daugavpils City Council in cooperation with the Municipal Administration of the Anykščiai Region implemented a joint Interreg V-A Latvia – Lithuania Programme 2014-2020 (@LatviaLithuaniaProgramme) project No. LLI – 472 "Joint Management of Urban Wetland Areas in border region Latvia-Lithuania" (Urb-Area). The aim of the project - to develop a new and effective approach to joint cross-border management of urban wetlands.
The events of European Researchers` Night will be held in Daugavpils University on September 30 from 5.00 pm until 9.00 pm.

In August, 2022, within the project “Intelligent Nordic-Baltic Ecosystems”, delegation from Vänersborg municipality (Sweden) visited Daugavpils. Project’s lead partner Vänersborg municipality has been a reliable project partner of Daugavpils City Municipality for many years. Cooperation started between Vänersborg and Development Department of Daugavpils City Municipality, and now our educational institutions of Daugavpils are being offered to take part in various types of projects, which helps to boost the capacity of teachers and improve educational environment in our city.
Within the framework of the implementation of the project activities, on August 14-19, 2022, an international summer camp for youth in Norway was organized by Daugavpils City Municipality in cooperation with Trondheim Science Centre.

Experts of Daugavpils Innovation Centre Gained International Experience from Norwegian Partners

Daugavpils City Municipality in cooperation with the Trondheim Science Centre (Vitensenteret) in Norway https://vitensenteret.com/en implemented two cooperation project activities in April this year. The first of the activities was training, in the framework of which the employees involved in the project together with the colleagues of the Liepāja City Education Department Science and Education Innovation Centre https://www.liepaja.lv/liepajaziic/par-ziiic/ focused on community-oriented solutions in the development of innovation centre expositions. The second activity was an exchange visit.

Commemoration of the Holocaust and Combating Anti-Semitism in Sweden”, offered by the Swedish Institute, the Swedish Embassy in Latvia and the museum “Jews in Latvia”, is on display at the Daugavpils University (13 Vienibas str,. Daugavpils, 2rd floor).
