Daugavpils city Council deputies established the governmental institution “Daugavpils Centre of Art named after Mark Rotko” Council news
On the13th of December Daugavpils City Council deputies took a decision to establish the Centre named after Mark Rotko and approved a provision to that institution, his director and staff-roll.
Center of Arts named by Mark Rotko is created on the 1st of January 2013, AleksejsBurunovs is appointed as its head,and the state provides 29 employees.
Structure of the Centre include: Administrative Department, Art Department, Public and International Affairs, the club of creative industry which has its residence and book-keeping.
Centre is officially opening next spring, in April. The visitors will be able to see the originals of Rotko pieces of art that attract the connoisseurs of his art from different countries, are planned numerous art expositions, actions, open airs. Centre named after Rotko is intended to be a significant subject of culture and tourism of international scope.
Daugavpils City Council vice-chairpersonLivijaJankovska believes that now everything depends on the staff, and the policy of the Centre, especially on marketing activities, so a lot of work is ahead.
