On 7th of August Daugavpils Fortress will host an international dance performance about time - a journey from memories of the past through the present to the future. Its artistic concept combines contemporary dance and hip-hop, as well as dynamic scenography with large-format projections and mirrors.

On 31 July 2021 Daugavpils Municipal Tourism Development and Information Agency and an exhibition “Shmakovka Museum” will hold an event "Gostūs Latgolā", dedicated to Latgale's hospitality and traditions, as well as the 5-year anniversary of the exhibition “Shmakovka Museum”.

Music will sound in parks of Daugavpils

From July 16, residents and guests of Daugavpils will have the opportunity to spend evenings of summer days (except Mondays) from 6.00 pm to 9.00 pm going for a walk in Dubrovin Park and Andreja Pumpura Square, where music of various genres will help to create a romantic atmosphere.
Daugavpils City Municipality Tourism Development and Information Agency continues the cycle of exhibitions “Skats no loga” (“View from the Window”) in the shop windows of Daugavpils Tourism Information Centre. This time in the shop windows at 22a Rīgas Street there is an exhibition of dolls of the Baltic Guild of Author Doll and Toy Artists from the collection of Daugavpils Regional Studies and Art Museum.

Jury puts Daugavpils in the second round of the European Capital of Culture 2027 competition

On 8 July, during a press conference by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Latvia, an international jury named four Latvian cities that will continue to compete for the honour of becoming the European Capital of Culture 2027. Selecting Daugavpils for the second competition round confirms the quality of the city’s bid and its capacity to implement such a massive international project.

On Saturday 19 June, Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art Centre will launch its new exhibition season. In the absence of loud speeches or public events, the focus will be exclusively on art, which has travelled to Daugavpils from across the globe.

Daugavpils Gets Ready for City Festival

From June 15 to 20, Daugavpils will celebrate the City Festival with the motto “My Castle – Daugavpils”. Residents and guests of the city will have the opportunity to participate and enjoy various festive activities, observing epidemiological safety requirements.
As museums and other art spaces reopen for individual visitors, artist Māris Čačka’s solo show “Direct Dialogues”, featuring vast works on canvas, is ready to receive visitors at Daugavpils Local History and Art Museum (Latvia). The exhibition will be available 7 through 27 June.
In the 2021 bathing season, two beaches in Daugavpils have retained the right to raise the Blue Flag – the most popular and recognized tourism eco-certificate in the world. From June 1, the Blue Flag is flying on the beach of Lielais Stropu Lake and the bathing site “Stropu vilnis”.
With the arrival of summer, from June 1 to October, boat rental "Beibuki" offers water trips along the Daugava River with a motorized raft "Sola" and a boat "Dina". The Daugava is the right place to enjoy the beautiful and diverse landscapes of Latvia's nature. Ten years ago, in the water tower building, which was built in 1865-1866 according to the project of the Dinaburg Fortress engineering team, the Culture and Information Centre of Daugavpils Fortress was opened. To mark the anniversary, a video with the memories and wishes of former and current Information Centre employees has been made in cooperation with the City Council.
