New conference hall called "Konferenču zāle 13" was opened in Daugavpils Fortress, one of the most popular sightseeing places in Daugavpils city, this summer. This venue is suitable for both local and international conferences, seminars and other corporate events.
For the past week, Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art Centre received a group of experts in ceramics who convened to select the winners of Martinsons Award 2021, an international juried exhibition of ceramics with a prize fund of 20,000 EUR.
Till 1st October this year the Young Accordionists are invited to submit their applications for the XII International Contest Named after Valerijs Hodukins "Daugavpils 2021" taking place online on 28 – 30 October within the XVII International Accordion Music Festival in Daugavpils (Latvia).
Competition will be held at the rescue station of Lielais Stropu Lake, at Stropu iela 40, on August 7, 2021, from 12.00 noon to 6.00 pm. The competition is organized and conducted by Latgale Water Sports Centre "Dinaburg" in cooperation with the municipal institution "Sports Department" with the support of the Latvian Canoe Federation.

On 7th of August Daugavpils Fortress will host an international dance performance about time - a journey from memories of the past through the present to the future. Its artistic concept combines contemporary dance and hip-hop, as well as dynamic scenography with large-format projections and mirrors.
On 31 July 2021 Daugavpils Municipal Tourism Development and Information Agency and an exhibition “Shmakovka Museum” will hold an event "Gostūs Latgolā", dedicated to Latgale's hospitality and traditions, as well as the 5-year anniversary of the exhibition “Shmakovka Museum”.
From July 23 to August 8, the Summer Olympic Games take place in Tokyo, in which three Daugavpils athletes also participate in the Latvian Olympic team.

From July 16, residents and guests of Daugavpils will have the opportunity to spend evenings of summer days (except Mondays) from 6.00 pm to 9.00 pm going for a walk in Dubrovin Park and Andreja Pumpura Square, where music of various genres will help to create a romantic atmosphere.
Daugavpils City Municipality Tourism Development and Information Agency continues the cycle of exhibitions “Skats no loga” (“View from the Window”) in the shop windows of Daugavpils Tourism Information Centre. This time in the shop windows at 22a Rīgas Street there is an exhibition of dolls of the Baltic Guild of Author Doll and Toy Artists from the collection of Daugavpils Regional Studies and Art Museum.

Jury puts Daugavpils in the second round of the European Capital of Culture 2027 competition

On 8 July, during a press conference by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Latvia, an international jury named four Latvian cities that will continue to compete for the honour of becoming the European Capital of Culture 2027. Selecting Daugavpils for the second competition round confirms the quality of the city’s bid and its capacity to implement such a massive international project.
