In August, 2022, within the project “Intelligent Nordic-Baltic Ecosystems”, delegation from Vänersborg municipality (Sweden) visited Daugavpils. Project’s lead partner Vänersborg municipality has been a reliable project partner of Daugavpils City Municipality for many years. Cooperation started between Vänersborg and Development Department of Daugavpils City Municipality, and now our educational institutions of Daugavpils are being offered to take part in various types of projects, which helps to boost the capacity of teachers and improve educational environment in our city.
Within the framework of the implementation of the project activities, on August 14-19, 2022, an international summer camp for youth in Norway was organized by Daugavpils City Municipality in cooperation with Trondheim Science Centre.

At 4 p.m. on 8 July, the Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art Centre will launch its summer season with new exhibitions in painting, ceramics and photography. Each medium is represented with two shows, resulting in a balanced artistic experience for all types of visitors, from seasoned art critics to casual explorers touring the city.

At 4 p.m. on Friday 27 May, the Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art Centre will close the International Latgale Graphic Art Symposium with a new exhibition displaying the tangible results of this two-week long creative forum.
Daugavpils City Municipality in cooperation with Daugavpils Innovation Centre invites young people (14-16 years old) to apply for a camp in the field of STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics), which will take place on August 15-19, 2022 in Trondheim, Norway. Application deadline until May 23, 2022.
During the last weekend, everyone interested in STEM fields was invited to join the experience exchange session of the project's “Development of Innovation Centre in Daugavpils” Norwegian partner, Trondheim Science Centre: "The impact of Norwegian innovation and science centres on learning methodologies and the impact of educational programs on students’ competences". The participants actively took the opportunity to ask questions, participate in discussions and shared their experience.
Daugavpils University in cooperation with Daugavpils Innovation Centre and Daugavpils City Municipality continues to implement the “Informal Continuing Education Program in a Competence-Based Approach for STEM Specialists”.
At 4 p.m. on Friday 6 May, the Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art Centre will close the Silva Linarte International Painting Symposium with an exhibition opening and the launch of R Space – a new point of attraction on its premises.
STEM TEACHERS ACQUIRE HYBRID PROGRAM

On April 29-30, 2022, STEM teacher training was held in person in Daugavpils University (DU) Life Sciences and Technology Laboratories. Thus, the already usual online training was supplemented with face-to-face lessons – the experimental and practical part in DU laboratories.
Experts of Daugavpils Innovation Centre Gained International Experience from Norwegian Partners

Daugavpils City Municipality in cooperation with the Trondheim Science Centre (Vitensenteret) in Norway https://vitensenteret.com/en implemented two cooperation project activities in April this year. The first of the activities was training, in the framework of which the employees involved in the project together with the colleagues of the Liepāja City Education Department Science and Education Innovation Centre https://www.liepaja.lv/liepajaziic/par-ziiic/ focused on community-oriented solutions in the development of innovation centre expositions. The second activity was an exchange visit.
Daugavpils City Council in cooperation with the Municipal Administration of the Anykščiai Region in 2020 launched a joint Interreg V-A Latvia-Lithuania Cross-border Cooperation Programme project "Joint Management of Urban Wetland Areas in border region Latvia-Lithuania". The aim of the project “Joint Management of Urban Wetland Areas in border region Latvia-Lithuania / Urb-Area”, LLI-472 is to develop a new and effective approach to joint management of urban wetlands across the border.

For the fourth time running, the Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art Centre hosts the Silva Linarte Painting Symposium to honour the distinguished Latgale artist and long-term art educator Silva Veronika Linarte (1939–2018) and celebrate her creative legacy. This year, the symposium fortnight brings together artists from Latvia, Greece, Poland and Peru.
On 22 April, a new exhibition space – the MARTINSONS HOUSE – will open on 1 Nikolaja Street to commemorate ceramicist Pēteris Martinsons (1931–2013) and his creative legacy.
