Daugavpils City Council in cooperation with the Anykščiai district municipality administration launches new cross-border project implementation within Interreg V-A Latvia – Lithuania programme 2014.-2020. The grant contract for project Nr. LLI-472 “Joint Management of Urban Wetland Areas in border region Latvia-Lithuania” was signed with the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development of the Republic of Latvia on October - 5th, 2020. In the frame of the project two urban areas wetlands will be managed – pond in the territory of Latgale Zoo in Daugavpils (Latvia) and Green pond in Anykščiai (Lithuania).

On Friday 6 November Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art Centre is launching the new exhibition season with six art projects that can be seen as attempts to overcome the uncertainty of this peculiar time.
Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art Centre launches a new service – an opportunity to purchases an annual admission ticket in the form of ANNUAL CARD. The card can be bought for private use or as a gift to colleagues, family or friends. It gives unlimited access to all permanent and temporary exhibitions available at the centre throughout one calendar year.
Starting from October 1, 2020 until March 31, 2021 Daugavpils Tourist Information Centre (Daugavpils TIC) will be open for visitors 6 days a week. From October until the end of March, opening hours of Daugavpils TIC will be from Monday to Saturday from 10 am to 6 pm.
Starting from October 1, 2020 until February 28, 2021 Daugavpils Fortress Culture & Information Centre will be open for visitors 7 days a week from 9.30 am to 6 pm.
Starting from October 1, 2020 till April 30, 2021 Shmakovka Museum will be open for visitors 6 days a week.
From October till the end of April opening hours of Shmakovka Museum will be from Tuesday to Sunday from 11 am to 7 pm.
At 4 p.m. on Friday 25 September, the 16th international painting symposium “Mark Rothko” will conclude with the opening of an exhibition by its participants and a public meeting with the artists.
At 4 p.m. on Wednesday 16 September Balvi District Museum will open the exhibition of Latvian contemporary ceramics “Dot” from the collection of Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art Centre.
From 12 to 25 September, as a homage to the world-renowned artist Mark Rothko, Daugavpils hosts the 16th international painting symposium “Mark Rothko”.
At 7 p.m. on Saturday 19 September, singer Diāna Paško, the 2019 finalist of Latvia’s musical reality TV show “X Faktors”, will give a solo concert at the courtyard of Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art Centre.
At 4 p.m. on Friday 11 September, artist Ieva Caruka will open her solo exhibition “Black Meets White” at Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art Centre.
On 11 September, the art and culture space “Siguldas Devons” will launch its third season with the exhibition “Opening” from the collection of Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art Centre.
LCB USA Information Center, in cooperation with U.S. Embassy Riga and NGO New East, are organizing educational program about media literacy and civil journalism “Media Lab/Radio”. This season will be organized jointly with Latvijas Radio as part of its 95th anniversary.
Daugavpils receives the 8th International Ceramic Art Symposium “Ceramic Laboratory”, which involves a fortnight of intensive studio work by an international team of artists, giving lectures and public presentations, and preparing an exhibition at Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art Centre.
On 29 June, celebrated in Latvia as Peter’s Day, Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art Centre remembers the internationally acclaimed Latvian ceramicist Pēteris Martinsons, who was born in Daugavpils and pioneered Latvian contemporary ceramics.
At 4 p.m. on Friday 3 July Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art Centre will open the solo exhibition “Magical World” by internationally recognised American artist, Hunt Slonem.
Shmakovka Museum is becoming more accessible and will be open to visitors 7 days a week during the active tourism season from June, 15th. From June to the end of September the working time of the Shmakovka Museum will be from Monday to Sunday from 11.00 to 19.00.
From 2 June until 25 October Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art Centre offers a retrospective exhibition “In My Beginning Is My End” by Chinese abstractionist Hsiao Chin.
