The challenges of the interactive society, in the context of a major shift in global social dynamics, must be met with an open mind, making full use of the innovative resources of the digital world. This is one of the conclusions drawn at the "How Cities can Increase the Availability of Mobile Networks and Power Infrastructure" conference in Bucharest, which was attended by civil society activists, by government officials and stakeholders, on January 24th.

On Friday 1 February at Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art Centre will be opened contemporary art exhibition of sixteen artists in painting, photography, graphics, sculpture on the theme beautiful side of truth and the truthful side of beauty.
On January 27th, Lithuanian tourism exhibition “Adventur 2019” was concluded at Vilnius Exhibition Centre “Litexpo”. It was attended by specialists of Daugavpils City Municipality Tourism Development and Information Agency, who together with representatives of Latgale Region Tourism Association “Ezerzeme”, colleagues from Daugavpils District and Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art Centre worked on the Daugavpils exhibition stall in order to popularise the wide tourism offer of Daugavpils and Latgale region.
Within the frameworks of the project Recruit potential (“Recruit potential – VET measures for Inclusive Employers”) fourth international project partners meeting was held in Lisburn, Northern Ireland from January 9th to 10th. Project is being implemented by 5 partners from 5 different countries – Sweden, Portugal, United Kingdom, Netherlands and Latvia and is financed by the EU program “ERASMUS+”. Lead partner is Skelleftea municipality in Sweden.
At 4 p.m. on Friday 1 February, the first exhibition season of 2019 will be opened at Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art Centre.

A different Martinsons

To celebrate the 88th birthday of Pēteris Martinsons, Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art Centre suggests taking a different view on the artist through an exhibition aptly named “A Different Martinsons”. It features select artwork from the Rothko Centre collection that depicts Pēteris Martinsons as he appeared to every artist – different and unique.

From 6 till 16 November, Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art Centre will once again host an international textile and fibre art symposium.
For the fifth time, Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art Centre will welcome an international group of textile artists who will draw inspiration from the streets of Daugavpils Fortress, its courtyards, architecture and people to create new artwork which will be publicly exhibited in a group show of symposium participants at the end of a two-week period of intensive creative work.
