EU city digital strategies for immigrants integration EUCIDIN

Information has been updated at 08.01.2020, 09:52

Project „EU city digital strategies for immigrants integration” EUCIDIN

PROGRAM: European Union “Europe for citizens” program, Strand 2 “Democratic engagement and civic participation”– Measure 2.2 "Networks of Towns"

AIM:  project specifically addresses the issues of migration by promoting EU values, dialogue and mutual understanding through the participation of both local stakeholders and EU nationals and the members of the immigrants’ population. It is planned to minimize and deconstruct the negative stereotypes about “immigrants” by promoting tolerance, respect for common values, diversity and integration. Specifically, the project aims to provide the participating cities and regions with the ability to investigate and promote city digital initiatives to support the social integration of immigrants’ populations by evaluating how digital strategies address the following dimensions: language barriers, access and development of digital skills. EU Policies at the national and local levels will also be explored in the areas where they exist as city governments should not be alone in seeing the potential of digital strategies to connect with populations of immigrants that face barriers to access services. A comprehensive strategy on integration through digital technology does not yet appear to be a priority in any city. At the same time, recent developments in reaction to the immigrants’ crisis in Europe demonstrate the relevance of technology in helping to facilitate responsiveness and integration.
